Volunteers have long helped care for plantings along Columbia Terrace and Institute. New plants, fresh mulch, and a little shared effort can keep that stewardship growing.
A date is announced only when a volunteer lead and backup are confirmed.

A longstanding neighborhood effort
A history of neighbors tending shared spaces.
Neighbors have long maintained boulevard plantings on Columbia Terrace and Institute, and began an alley garden program in 2006. Today’s work continues that tradition at a manageable scale.
The current approach is intentionally smaller: identify an approved need, name a lead and backup, schedule one bounded workday, and invite neighbors to help.

Peoria’s free mulch giveaway
Peoria Public Works has hosted annual spring giveaway days for city and county residents. Dates, eligibility, loading rules, and availability must be checked each year before the neighborhood coordinates around it.
